Our Committee

In accordance with its powers under the Corporations Act and the Constitution of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund, the Responsible Entity has delegated certain functions to a Management Committee which comprises the Manager from time to time of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund and not less than three (3) and not more than seven (7) persons nominated by the Responsible Entity who are directors of the Responsible Entity.  In particular, the Responsible Entity has determined that the Management Committee will have the following duties:

The current members of the Management Committee are Ben Wallace(Manager of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund),  Paul Kuzis, Rebecca Reid, Ben Swain, Luke Golding and Benn Dance who are the directors of Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Management Limited. A profile of each of the directors appears below.

Paul Kuzis, Rebecca Reid, Ben Swain, Luke Golding and Benn Dance are commercial/conveyancing lawyers at Murdoch Clarke Barristers and Solicitors www.murdochclarke.com.au with many years of relevant experience in legal practice and experience in managing the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund and the Murdoch Clarke Contributory Mortgage Fund from which the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund originated.


PAUL KUZIS

Director

Paul Kuzis is the Managing Partner of Murdoch Clarke Lawyers and has been a commercial partner of Murdoch Clarke since July 1992. Paul was a member of the committee which operated the Murdoch Clarke Contributory Mortgage Fund from July 1992 until it transitioned to the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund in 2000.

Paul was a member of the Management Committee of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund from 2000 until June, 2006 while the Responsible Entity of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund was Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Limited. Since 1 July 2006, Paul has been the director of Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Management Limited with primary responsibility for statutory compliance, and a member of the Management Committee of the Murdoch Clarke Mortgage Fund.


REBECCA REID

Director

Rebecca Reid is a partner at Murdoch Clarke whose practice area is within the commercial department. She has substantial experience in a wide range of commercial matters including domestic and commercial conveyancing and property transactions, business sales and acquisitions, commercial and residential leasing, partnership and trust work, and mortgage and other security work.

Rebecca also has a large wills and estate planning practice which includes the preparation of wills and powers of attorney, estate planning, probate and estate administration.


Ben Swain
LL.B. (Hons)
Director

Ben Swain practises in the commercial department and has developed experience in relation to: real property; negotiating, drafting and completing commercial agreements and transactions; advising in relation to corporate structure and set-up; taxation – including Federal or State based taxation; and private client matters such as estate planning, estate management, Wills and Powers of Attorney.

He has international experience having worked in London for a period of time on a number of large commercial property-based transactions. This international experience adds to his extensive Tasmanian-based legal experience.


LUKE GOLDING

Director

Luke holds a bachelor of Commerce and Laws (with an accounting major) and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2005.  He has been a Partner at Murdoch Clarke Lawyers since 2014.

Luke has a large practice acting for various clients including individuals, corporations and local government authorities. His principal areas of practice are Commercial, Property and Conveyancing; Environment and Local Government; and Industrial Relations.

Luke’s extensive experience includes acting in general commercial and property law matters including domestic and commercial conveyancing, securities, leasing and property development. He has also had extensive experience acting on behalf of  various lenders (including one of the big four banks) in relation to the preparation of loan and security documentation in Tasmania.


BENN DANCE

Benn Dance is a partner in the Murdoch Clarke commercial department and advises on a broad range of commercial and property matters including commercial and residential conveyancing, disposal and acquisition of businesses, property developments and subdivisions, commercial and residential leasing, mortgages and other securities, and providing general advice on contracts and other commercial transactions.  Benn also practises in estate planning and estate administration and is able to advise on wills, powers of attorney and enduring guardianships.
